Wishes

My birthday's still pretty far from now (about two weeks away) but already my parents are asking me how I want to celebrate and what I want as gifts.

What do I want for my birthday? Okay, here's a list:

1. An end to animal cruelty

2. Food for the beggars

3. Paint for my room

Hah. I've been asking my parents for paint for how many years now, but they always say there are more important things to spend money on. I even told them that they wouldn't need to pay for labor since I'd be very willing to paint the room myself, but they don't think it's a very good idea. I dunno why.

My room was originally pink (that's why we call it the Pink Room) but now the paint has faded so it looks white. I don't like the color pink, but if I had the chance I'd paint it pink again to be true to its name.

. . .

To be honest, I don't want much for my birthday. Well okay, I want a LOT, but they're not material things. And the few material things that I DO want, I am NOT ALLOWED to have. Siiiiiiigh. Life is cruel.

But I'm not complaining. Sincerely speaking, if I didn't get anything for my birthday except some cheery greetings and a chance to escape home, I'd be happy. Seriously! I'm not just saying this.

. . .

As for my party, well...

At first I was thinking I would invite my friends over for cake and ice cream and a movie or something, but when I asked my friend Janine (whose birthday is a day apart from mine!) if she felt like doing something barkada-related for our birthday, she said she wasn't up for it.

See, I have really weird friends (birds of the same feather flock together after all). We never go out to malls or anything. That's mainly because we're "chill at home" people. I like going to malls myself, but that's only with my family.

Anyway, I decided I wouldn't be inviting my friends over after all. I wouldn't wanna cause them any fuss just because I was born...

Siiiigh. My sister Caitlin offered an alternative though. She said we should celebrate, just the five of us in our family (six, including Yaya Grace), with a traditional kiddy-style party. Complete with paper hats, games and prizes. The theme would be SpongeBob.

I kinda thought it was a nice idea, but then picturing me in a SpongeBob hat playing musical chairs with my two little siblings...

NO. I'd feel (and look) really stupid! I'm up for something different from your average party, but NOT that. PLEASE no.

I have nothing against SpongeBob and musical chairs (although I think it's THE most annoying game evah) but it just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

Last year (was that last year?), I went to a farewell party for the senior Campus Observer staff at Jollibee. It was also kiddy-themed, also SpongeBob, but the people who attended were my friends and teachers.

I guess I just feel like having my friends around.

. . .

Anyway, what I told my dad is that I'd like to go to Coffeeworks for a bit on my birthday. Every single day of summer I've wanted to go there. I've been craving for some mocha ever since school ended, but for various reasons I never went.

And now since I've been deprived the chance of having a party, I SHOULD GET TO GO!!! I WANT COFFEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

I'm too young to have coffee, but my mom let my try those samples they give out in the supermarkets. Delish.

. . .

Well, I guess that's all for today. I've ranted my heart out. Now I just have to sit here and wait two weeks until I get to go to Coffeeworks. Whoopee.
